What camera and lens are best suitable for hiking

By Walter on Wednesday, July 26, 2000 - 5:36 am:  Edit

I use Nikon digital Camera 900, but it is troublesome to switch back and forth the tele lens and
wide angle lens, also you have to keep switching the machine body in order to take pictures.

But of course 這只是個人喜好。

Anyone tell me about F100 or F5 best suit for hiking. Any lenes are suitable come with these cameras.

These two stuff is too professional for hiking. You will not willing to wear this big monster on yr neck after you had packed a 60 l. or even 30 l. a day pack. More the land scene will not disappear within a second , land scene is not a catwalk model, speed is not a problem. My current model is Nikon F60 & FM2 , may be I will consider F80 instead of F60.

About the lens if you want one lens solution , 24-120. My current equipmnet is either
24-50mm + 85mm or 24-50mm + 180mm since there is no second hand 24-120mm appear in the second hand market.

Dear Alls,
I also using Nx AF24-120mm Lens, w/ F90X (a heavy weight body in Nikon). May I suggested that buy Tx 28-200 (AF / MF available, approx. $2000). This lens suit for hiking because of light weight. No comment to the Digital Cam because of not familiar. In addition, I usually use Px 928 (28-90) compact cam in hiking! (928 had a new model: 928M, approx. $1800) For your comment.

Why do you need to change and downgrade to Tarmon 28-200. The first is that 24 is more wider than 28. The second is the quality of the glass.

I'm Nikon user (F-801S),
How about Tokina ATX?? 20-35mm F2.8,(Golden range)
I want to buy it but don't know his quality.
Please comment, many thanks!

I used Tokina ATX 20-35MM F2.8. The pictures are poor in contrast and stop down for approx. half stop. The quality of Tokina seems not very good.

Thank you EricYip and raymondyip
Today, the Nikon original lens is very expenses.
Our budget only 4K - 5K, how about Tamron lens SP AF20-40mm f/2.8-3.5, Do you any comment?

By Eric Yip on Sunday, September 03, 2000 - 10:27 pm:  Edit

Dear Haruki,
I agree with you that Nikkor lenses are very expensive, especially the fast aperature (F2
.8).
I never use the Tamron lens, and therefore I have no comment.

Dan
