Brand new map from Last Year 1:20000
What 's wrong ?

Sharp Peak is about KV 297830, that is in the old system of coordinates. It is the one shown on my 1989 edition HM20C map. The 299828 is on the revised system as shown in maps since 1995.

(UTM Grid)

Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinates from the geographic latitude and longitude of a point or the reverse conversion

49Q: UTM Easting (HK80) = UTM Easting (WGS84) - 245m
UTM Northing (HK80) = UTM Northing (WGS84) + 195m

50Q: UTM Easting (HK80) = UTM Easting (WGS84) - 260m
UTM Northing (HK80) = UTM Northing (WGS84) + 205m

SAR government digital map still uses HK80, this is due to the fact that it is easier to calculate with HK80 in digital format. (0,0) as the top left corner etc.

Most GPS has user defined grid, so GPS can use HK80. UTM is an international standard, whereelse HK80 is a local standard, in most countries they all have their own grid standard.
