Daniel | Wednesday, April 04, 2001 - 04:50 pm Eugene: I have been to Sheung-Tam stream many times, but the water quality was not that good, and I would not swim in that water. Personally I think the right branch which flows through Tai Tam Mount is much better, probably due to the un-polluted feeders from Boa Vista (Ye Chu Keng), and it has a beautiful waterfall too. However, I can see from your photos that the water quality as well as quantity was not that bad, probably you were there shortly after a heavy rain ? |
Eugene | Wednesday, April 04, 2001 - 07:30 pm Hi Daniel, It has been a long time since my visit to Sheung Tam Stream. I couldn't remember whether there was a heavy rain before I went there. But I could remember the stream water was OK for a swim there. And the waterflow was not small at that time. I visited the right branch as you mentioned. It was great to see that moderate-sized waterfall in Hong Kong Island. I swimmed there. But to my surprise, my body became quite itchy after swimming there. So, don't be fooled by the cleanliness of the stream water. There could be a number of biting bugs even in an apparent clean pool, too. |
Jacy | Monday, June 18, 2001 - 07:15 pm I am very interested in hiking some of the level one and two hikes and river treks on the site. However, because I am not from Hong Kong I am not familiar with how to get to some of these starting points? Can you provide me with directions on how to get to the starting point of Hau Tong Kai Trail, and Sheung Tam Stream trail please? Thank you. |
